The "Amen break" was a brief drum solo performed in 1969 by Gregory Sylvester "G. C." Coleman.
The "Amen Break", "Amen", or imitations thereof, are frequently used as sampled drum loops in hip hop, jungle, breakcore and drum and bass music. It is 5.20 seconds long and consists of four bars of the drum-solo sampled from the song "Amen, Brother" as performed by the 1960s funk and soul outfit The Winstons. The song is an up-tempo instrumental rendition of an older gospel music classic. The Winstons' version was released as a B-side of the 45 RPM 7-inch vinyl single "Color Him Father" in 1969 on Metromedia (MMS-117), and is currently available on several compilations and on a 12-inch vinyl re-release together with other songs by The Winstons.

The Amen Break was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music - "a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures"

I got to check out the new Club Nebula. This club is HOT!!!! Packed place as I arrived. They had a stream of drum-n-bass on. I asked Seereina Geiger if I could jump on the decks for some DnB. I dropped it heavy on em! Loud and in yo face! I loved the lickable looking candy all over the room.

Crunchy Beats and Glitch-Tech came out of Parkade Club March 13th. Pits Yao was working the intelligent electronica magic with his original produced stuff. Tremendous beat-play; this was such a groundbreaking mesh of sounds, I'm glad I heard it and didn't hear about it. Breakcore, drum-n-bass, breaks, techno, IDM, glitch, even triphop all thrown into a crazy pile.

Dark Machines & STEED Drop the Beats HEAVY @ Le Cube

I happened to venture to a party in the late afternoon. DJ DarkMachines Hax was droppin' some HUUGE heavy breaks. I'd never been to Le Cube http://slurl.com/secondlife/Solchan/142/105/52/ but the place was happening, and the DJs obviously have skill. It was a very refreshing experience, proving that SL is a great place to find true DJ talent from across the globe. Elecktro Newman seemed to be producer/promoter of the event. After Darkmachines came another resident DJ, STEED Schlesinger. He immediately caught my attention as well with his booty breaks and funk joints.
I was thuroughly impressed with the fact that these DJs broadcast a video feed as well. I would love to do this myself, but can't manage to get enough bandwidth goin' for me. I'm glad to see more and more RL professional DJs are making their way to play parties in SL.

DJ Pits Yao at the HUB Club

I hopped over to the HUB Club Feb 12th for some drum-n-bass. Pits selects some excellent tech-step & dark-step for the show. The tracks he pick are perfectly avant-garde in the beat play. I really really like the www.audiocourses.com build, possibly one of my favorites in SL. The long hallways, the circular pillars of art, performance venues, the HUB club, all in these dark corridors outlined with red glow and creativity.
