The DJ List is a DJ ranking site that's been around for a long time. It's a site devoted to ranking the popularity of DJs based on votes. Needless to say, the general population of club goers around the world fall for the "DJ superstar" image usually, and don't always understand or appreciate what it actually means to be a good DJ spinning good music (hence: Tiesto is always ranked #1).
I figure, lets team up and vote for each other.
The Second Life DJs and Second Life DJ fans should team up and vote for each other on the site. There's a slew of fresh, modern, innovative DJs in Second Life right now. There's also a massive handful of dedicated DJ listeners and followers inworld. Lets tap into our collective, and vote up Second Life DJs listed on TheDJList.com!
* If you're a DJ in Second Life, and also on TheDJList, then post the link to your page in the comments of this post (the link to comment is at the end of this post)
* If you're a fan of a DJ in Second Life that's listed on the site, post their link in comments.
* If you're not listed on TheDJList, join the site, grab yourself a DJ page, and post your link in comments.
I will update this post (or perhaps create a new post every so often) with the DJ's badges that are added to the comments of this post.
To vote for a DJ on TheDJList, just visit the DJ's page after you've signed into the site.
I will make sure I vote for every Second Life DJ that has a TheDJList page, and I encourage everyone else from Second Life to continually vote up the Second Life DJs.
(personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Tiesto bumped off his throne.)

DJ Rafik chops up the Chemical Brothers sample "Block Rockin' Beats" using Tracktor
Rafik chops up the Chemical Brothers sample "Block Rockin' Beats", triggering individual cue points so he can re-create and re-structure the lick in his own way. On the other deck he runs a hi-hat a Gater and Filter (chained) and a Beatmasher controlled via X1. The result is a blistering performance made possible by TRAKTOR and the X1.

A Few DJ Turntablist Routines I Love from the DMC Championship
I posted news about the new Pioneer CDJ-2000s being released. I mentioned that these new CD digital turntables do EVERYTHING... well that's not entirely true. There's one thing new technologically advanced turntables will never be able to do, and that is replace vinyl turntables.
The DMC Championship is a tournament featuring the best turntablists from across the world. Usually these DJs practice intensely a single routine all year, and come out of the woodwork to compete. Winners generally become DJ celebrities instantly, signing on to tours and endorsement deals. More on the unique history of the DMC Championships can be found HERE
Here's a few routines I selected to show here:

Selling my Second Life Group: "Live Turntable DJs"
For over 3 years, I've done my best to establish a promotional, networking, and collaboration group for the Live Turntable DJs and DJ fans of Second Life. I have done my best to sort out the DJs, the Event Promoters, and the music lovers in SL. Back when this group first started in SL, there were NO live turntable djs. There wasn't even a difference in classification of the type of DJs in SL. I made this group because I needed to show Second Life that a "playlisting" DJ is not a real turntable mix DJ. Since then, Second Life has blossomed into a full fledged Live Turntable DJ community.
Now the time has come where I am looking to sell this group. The reason why I am selling it is because of the extreme time and effort I've invested in making this group special. Furthermore, the future owner of this group will have full access to over 1000 members, over 300 DJs, and over 300 club and event promoters. This group is a high value opportunity for any DJ agency, club looking to book DJs, club looking to hire quality staff, and a effective method for DJ, club, and event needs. If you are in the club business & music entertainment industry inworld, you will find this group is an excellent investment.

If you have any questions, inquiries, or simply want to know why I am selling this group, please email me at DJDoubledown (at) gmail.com
If there are no qualifying buyers, the group will be shut down sometime between September 5th and September 9th.
Here is your chance to jump on a tremendous opportunity filled with contacts that will make your Second Life entertainment business catapult to success.
Once again, email me ASAP at DJDoubledown (at) gmail.com with any questions. Please act fast.
(Doubledown Tandino in SL)
Thank you.
P.S. I am not getting rid of this group because "I am tired of it" ... It pains me to have to let this group go. Hopefully the new owner will continue onward with the ideals I set out for the group.
