I must say I absolutely love this site for my music. I will be adding my original material as much as I can on there. The more you bump the songs on my page, the more they will allow me to upload more. My goal is to get my entire collection on there!

It's a formula balancing bump count and post date.new: Up and coming songs ordered chronologically by post date.week: Top performers on thesixtyone for the current week.the rack: Random mix of songs that haven't hit the homepage. Listening earns you free points which you can spend on bumping your favorite songs up the charts.
How does it work?
Musicians upload their music for listening, but rather than allowing the Simon Cowells of the world decide which songs go on the homepage, the listeners do. How, you say? If you like a song you've found on thesixtyone, just click the "bump" button to increase its bump count. Doing so will cost you points, but if songs you bump get bumped by others, you can earn more points! Collecting points increases your level and reflects your skill in picking top songs in your favorite genre!
By listening to songs through the lens of the collective community on thesixtyone, you'll always find good new music. We're committed to giving every bit of music on the web the opportunity to find its audience.

A road is a road, but sometimes it's more. Sometimes a road sings. Drive down Highway 61 and you'll find music everywhere you turn. Muddy Waters rode the 61. So did Bob Dylan, Ike Turner, and B.B. King. Elvis grew up in the housing projects along it.
Highway 61 was the road by which people left to find better opportunities. And by leaving they took their music to the world.

Welcome to the official site of Club Republik’s Iron DJ Competition!
This is where you can get all the latest announcements, find out how to enter & what the rules are, and see where DJ entrants are on the Leaderboard.
We’re currently in Round 1 of the competition, which means there’s still plenty of time for the entrants to collect as many votes as possible to ensure they’re at the top of the Leaderboard.
Only the top 24 DJs will make it to Round 2 and the start of the big event at Club Republik on the 1st of February!
We’ve got much more to come, so get out there and get voting for your favourite DJs! They need your help to get them a chance of walking away with the coveted title of IronDJ at the biggest electronic music event in a virtual world so far!

Then, after a Q&A session we will be pleased to take you all to our partners’ area in Orange 2.
Join us after for a celebration party featuring live turntable DJ and Orange Island favorite, Doubledown Tandino. We hope you join the community for some fun dancing and music from 12pm-1pm SLT on the Orange 1 plaza.
We are all thrilled by this project, and really hope it will foster creativity and innovation among SL residents.

World Trade Organization allows Antigua to ignore US$21 million of US copyright per year
Here's some news that peaked my interest. The first things I thought about were music and Second Life... Would it be legal for someone from Antiqua to set up shop in Second Life offering music, movies, games, etc? This is a slow-moving story, and I believe these are all arguing tactics of nations. But, lets say it remains that US copyrights do not stand in Antiqua... hmm...
World Trade Organization allows Antigua to ignore US$21 million of US copyright per year
Arbitrators at the World Trade Organization (WTO) have granted the Caribbean country of Antigua and Barbuda a special dispensation to ignore United States copyright law.
In their report, the WTO panel stated that Antigua possessed "no effective trade sanctions against the USA" and agreed to allow the country to ignore up to US$21 million worth of US copyrights a year. While this amount falls significantly short of the US$3.4 billion per year dispensation that Antigua was seeking, it is far higher than the US$500,000 per year allocation that US negotiators were pushing for.
The ruling comes at the end of a five year legal contest between Antigua and the USA regarding the USA's blocking of offshore online gambling sites. Because many of these sites were located in Antigua, the Antiguan government filed a complaint with the WTO saying that the US prohibition constituted unlawful restriction of trade. When the WTO agreed, Antigua pressed for US$3.4 billion in punitive damages. They asked to have this penalty assessed as permission to copy US intellectual property, since there was no trade embargo that Antigua could impose on the US to collect the amount for itself. The panel agreed that Antigua had no way to collect punitive damages through trade sanctions. However, they lowered the amount of damages to US$21 million per year.

I myself celebrate Festivus. Not because I'm just a Seinfeld fan, but because I know every line... word for word... and I know every single possible thing there is to know about Seinfeld. You can send an IM question in Second Life, and I'll reply with the answer.)I believe in Festivus and have been celebrating it for 10 years now. It's something I just am inbred with, I can feel it.
