Officially the Strangest Second Life Login Picture To Date

(click the pic to enlarge). This is the welcome picture at the log-in screen for Second Life on December 12th, 2009. This is officially the strangest, most odd, Second Life welcome / log-in image I have seen to date.

What is Linden Lab thinking? What is Linden Lab trying to say with this?  an egg over three strips of bacon, an egg over toast, a cup of coffee, a hot dog, and a cola drink... on a table.

Please, post your thoughts, perceptions, disambiguations in comments. We need to figure out what they are trying to say by this image. We have to get to the bottom of this.

lmao, I guess they are just trying to represent RL into SL photo art lol or somekinda "leave this and go eat" hidden message :D

did u noticed that it is only bad food there? I mean not the best one for health....

I think there's much much more going on here than we think. Innuendo, Double Entendre, phallic imagery, product placement for Coca-Cola?

... and... this "welcome" screen is 100% for users who are already users. Not for ANYONE new signing up. Why would LL use an image that makes no sense for a new user.

And what's the point of showcasing food?

I saw that too and thought the same thing! The eggs almost look like they are made of ceramic, as if you bought one of those hideous still-life knick-knacks at some Las Vegas gift shop.

It makes me wonder just how they choose those images. Maybe it's art! Maybe some kind of deconstructionist view of the dichotomy of nourishment and famine, poverty and plenty, the idea that no matter how much SL offers, it cannot ultimately satisfy us. I'm sure that is just the kind of thing they were aiming at. :-)
