Chat Gestures at Events in SL - Enjoyed Enthusiasm or Annoying Spam?

You left out an important issue...

Those that use text-to-speech or other assistive technologies really hate gestures, because the text-to-speech reads the gesture as gibberish.

That's why, at all my events, I've used a variant of this announcement:

'Also, as a courtesy to those who use text-to-speech and other assistive technologies, it is imperative that everyone refrains from the use of text or sound gestures.'

As i look at the Poll outcome so far, i see that most people do like to use gestures, and so do I. Its just plain fun to see all the combinations, reactions and even whole conversations which evolve from them. I also noticed that it even helps some people who are shy, to start a conversation because they are not "lost for words". With the development of the namegestures with sounds, a personal touch is added. As a creator of those names, the amount of orders i get each day speaks for itself: the popularity of gestures validates the use of them, as long as we all use common sense and not clog the chat with spam...
